Certificate Programs

Freelance Makeup Artist Program

Freelance Makeup Artist Program teaches you the skills to be a freelance makeup artist for all media, from weddings and special events to commercials, videos, and photography.

Makeup for Television & Film

Take your freelance makeup skills up a few notches. Learn the history of makeup and costume. Also, learn about out-of-the-kit special effects. This includes making and applying bald caps and prosthetic transfers. Discover how to both hand-lay and ventilate facial hair, hair punch, and style wigs.

Degree Programs

Performance Makeup Artist Program

The Performance Makeup Artist Program is in-depth and comprehensive. This includes live theater, opera, ballet, television, music video, and film. We provide 2100 clock hours of classroom training. We also offer out-of-the-classroom opportunities to work with current productions. Students will learn makeup artistry and special effects. They will also choose between wig & hair or costume design.

Makeup Artist: Special Effects

AMUA’s Makeup Artist: Special Effects Program is designed to teach you how to create and apply astonishingly realistic makeup and prosthetic effects that meet the highest industry standards.

The Art of Wig & Hair Design

This program will teach you all you need to know to design, create, and style wigs, facial hair, hair punching, and faux fur. 

Costume Design

Students will have a well-rounded understanding of costume design. They will learn the basics and advanced techniques, historical context, and practical skills. This will help them build a successful career in the field.
